| A Jinx Den |
| You are wandering through a dry, almost desert section of the land. There are trees here, but they are very few, and seem to be a hardy variety especially suited to the sandy soil. Tall grasses also grow in abundance here, and they wave to and fro in the hot wind. You go over a little dune of sand and see a tan colored creature emerging from a little hole set in the hillside. It is fairly small, and has ears that remine you of a mouse. It wears a small gold band around its tufted tail and an earring. Curious, you go closer. "Oh, hello there," it says in a masculine voice as it sees you approaching. "You're lucky I decided to come out at just that moment, or you may have wandered off into the desert and no one would have ever seen you again." He grins. "Pleased to meet you," you say. "What kind of creature are you, exactly? I've never seen anything quite like you." "I'm a Jinx," he says. "You may call me Ranuk. I was just kidding about what I said before. Actually, I heard you coming. Do you like my home?" "Yes, it's lovely, but a bit hot," you say. He chuckles. "Well, Jinx of my tribe love places such as this. Besides, it is nice and cool under the ground. I'd invite you inside, but you probably won't fit." "That's ok," you say, amused by this little creature. "Well, visit me again whenever you like. I may have a few friends by then. Who knows?" Ranuk says and jumps back down into his denm leaving you to find your way back to the main part of the Forest. |
